Popular chess streamer and Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura has been at the centre of cheating allegations after he broke the Blitz record on Chess.com which led to Magnus Carlsen taking a dig at him on X.

Arguably the best chess player in the world, Magnus Carlsen has taken a dig at Hiraku with a picture where the Japanese-born Grandmaster loses the game after he caused a debacle with his pawn and bishop. One can argue that loss could have been avoided by Nakamura given such a mistake is not expected from a Grandmaster.

This news follows Russian Grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik leaving a cheeky message on his Chess.com profile hinting that the website is housing cheaters after the news of Hiraku breaking the record surfaced. Fans instantly connected the dots that Vladimir was hinting towards the record-breaking performance of Nakamura.

“Wins all these online events, yet doesn’t know how pawns capture? Interesting,” he wrote on X.

Hiraku hit back saying “I know you don’t know how the knight moves, I was hoping you didn’t know how the pawn moves too!”, referencing Carlsen’s question on Andrea and Alexandra Botez where he asked how the knight moves.

Several chess players recently have been subjected to cheating allegations and with so many big names going after Hiraku, it will be interesting to see how he defends himself. Kramnik is convinced and now Magnus Carlsen hinting at the same would put Hiraku in hot waters.
