BioWare has revealed expected performance for the remaster on each platform.

With Returnal out of the way and Resident Evil Village out tomorrow, BioWare’s Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is the next major release for May. Though it already revealed hardware requirements for the PC version, the developer has recently outlined frame rate and performance for each platform. PC players can expect up to 240 FPS with support for 240 Hz refresh rates and options to better tweak quality versus performance.

On the other hand, console players will have two graphics modes – Favor Quality and Favor Framerate. For PS4 and Xbox One, this means the game can run at up to 30 FPS at 1080p or 60 FPS at 1080p. PS4 Pro, Xbox One X and Xbox Series S players can expect 4K/30 FPS or 1440p/60 FPS. Meanwhile, PS5 and Xbox Series X can run the game at 4K/60 FPS.

However, one key difference for the current-gen platforms is how they run on Favor Framerate mode. Though the PS5 will deliver 1440p/60 FPS, the Xbox Series X is capable of 1440p/120 FPS, which should look even better thanks to Variable Refresh Rate support. Of course, as BioWare notes, “The more powerful the hardware the more consistently you will experience the specified target framerate & resolution.” So you can expect to hit 60 FPS more consistently on PS5 and Xbox Series X than, say, PS4 and Xbox One (which should be a given).

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is out on May 14th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It will have an 11.8 GB patch on day one.
