A humble Far North Queensland unit described as a “war zone bunker” has gone viral, after it was listed for sale with a brutally honest description.

It beat mansions to be named Australia’s top listing of the week, with a multimillion-dollar Toorak mansion in second spot.

Located in the Cairns suburb of Manunda, the two-bedroom unit and its unusual description of its pros and cons quickly went viral.

“If you are an investor you get 700 a year depreciation,” the listing says.

“You wouldn’t want to live there yourself but the return on investment is good

“Who knows what the future holds – perhaps a foreign power will take over this god forsaken place and enforce some rule of law over ALL inhabitants.”

The strategic high ground

Located on the top floor of a unit complex, the listing labels this position as “strategic high ground”.

There is also a “huge balcony with a commanding view over (the) battlefield, and “free performances (residents screaming and fighting)”.

Other perks include “territorial marking in stairwell (urine)” and “artworks in (the) carpark (graffiti)”.

Property records show the unit has been a tenanted investment property since the complex was constructed in 2006.

The QPS Crime Portal shows a cluster of offences near the unit’s location, ranging from assault and unlawful entry to car theft and property damage.

But it is not all bad, with the listing noting that the unit has tiles to all rooms, rendered walls, a ceramic hotplate and is rented for $460 a week.

There are two bedrooms, one bathroom and one car park.

The unit is listed for $250,000.

PropTrack’s weekly listing report had the humble unit in the battler ‘burb in the top spot for most viewed residential listing this week.

Other Queensland properties to make the top 15 list included a Hamptons-style acreage property in Cornubia, a modern family home in Chapel Hill and an architectural masterpiece in New Farm.
