Over the weekend we saw the eight teams of the Mobile Legends Professional League in Indonesia kick off with their eleventh season of MLBB action.

All eight teams in MPL ID Season 11 got their first taste of action over the recent weekend, and the region saw some massive upsets, while a few teams have already firmly planted themselves above the rest. While this is only the first week of action, some teams will definitely be looking to step things up or risk missing out on the playoffs and a chance to reach the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup 2023.

Tied at the top

Three teams have already made a great start to MPL ID Season 11, taking wins in their first two games in Week 1 and cementing a solid spot atop the rankings for the time being. For two of these teams, RRQ and ONIC Esports, this is not something completely unexpected, as they have often been the two teams at the top of the standings. However, for EVOS Legends, following a poor Season 10, this past weekend was a brilliant way to begin their comeback as they go in search of another MPL ID championship – their first since Season 7, if they can keep up with the top 2.

The fires have gone out

AURA Fire are typically a team that stands out, and have been for some time too. While they may be unable to withstand the pressure and skills of RRQ and ONIC, the team have been constant in their third place finishes for the last two seasons. This weekend we barely saw signs of life from the unchanged roster, as they dropped all three of their series, including two huge upsets from Rebellion Zion and Geek Slate. With RRQ and Onic as their challengers in Week 2, Aura will need to reignite their fires if they want to return to the playoffs.

For Aura and Alter Ego, Week 1 will be one that they want to put far behind themselves and forget, as they move forward. Bigetron Alpha were also on the losing side of most of their series, but having already faced RRQ and ONIC, they can look to build in the coming weeks. With that said, anything can and usually does happen when it comes to MPL ID and Season 11 is just getting started.
