Twelve of League of Legends finest will battle in Chengdu, China, hoping to win LoL Esport’s first international event of the year. This is also an early opportunity for one of these teams to qualify for the 2024 League of Legends World Championship, as starting this year, the winner of MSI 2024 will automatically qualify for Worlds. Which Teams Are Competing At MSI 2024?

When this article was written, only three teams had booked their spots at the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational. G2 Esports secured their spot after winning the LEC Winter Playoffs, while North America just wrapped up its playoffs, with Team Liquid and FlyQuest also booking their place at this year’s event. This article will be updated as more teams qualify for MSI 2024.

What Is The MSI 2024 Format?

The format for MSI 2024 will not differ from the new format we saw at 2023’s event in London. The twelve teams will compete across two stages: the Play-In stage and the Bracket Stage.

Eight teams compete in the Play-In stage, and they are then drawn into two double-elimination brackets. Each match is best of three, and the top two teams from each group advance to the Bracket Stage.

Eight teams will then compete in the Bracket Stage, four champions from each major region and four coming up from the Play-In stage. This is a double-elimination bracket, with every series being a best-of-five. The winner of MSI 2024 will punch their ticket to the 2024 League of Legends World Championship. This ruling will only affect if said winner reaches their domestic playoffs in the following split. The second best-performing region at MSI 2024 will gain an extra slot.

What Is The MSI 2024 Prize Pool?

Riot Games has not yet announced the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational prize pool. However, MSI’s prize pool has been $250,000 since 2021. Here is how the prize pool will be split amongst the twelve teams.
