Etherington’s Crawley Town departure: As it happened

Matthew Etherington’s departure from Crawley Town was very much a shock to the system with the former West Ham midfielder losing his position on Thursday morning.

Crawley Town had previously suffered back-to-back League 2 defeats against Hartlepool and Sutton United, seeing the club slip to 20th in the table with just a six-point buffer over the relegation zone.

Speaking with the Crawley Town website, Director of Football Chris Galley stated that ‘this partnership is not the right fit to carry the club forward and achieve our goals. As a result, we have mutually decided to move in a different direction. We wish Matty and Simon well in their future endeavours.’
