The Round Table Initiatives

According to Patrik Ferrer, the chief operating officer (COO) of TRT, the current and upcoming initiatives of The Round Table include fostering web3 community growth through in-person events in collaboration with local partners and launching a Standard Community Moderation course. 

He also noted that in the past, TRT successfully onboarded several Filipinos into various web3 roles, such as moderators, social media managers, and partnerships managers, facilitating their transition into the digital space.

“Our goal is to help Filipinos understand the web3, blockchain/NFT (non-fungible token) space and make them well-equipped before onboarding or getting a job in our industry, this will be done by looking for sponsors, partners, and funders who have the same mission and vision as us,”  Ferrer stated.

Ferrer leads TRT’s business development and community management efforts. Additionally, he serves as the Convener at Layer Zero Cooperative, a cooperative catering to startups and freelancers.

Recognizing Web3 Moderators

In a media release, Ferrer highlighted the vital role of web3 moderators in maintaining community integrity and promoting diversity within decentralized networks. The firm noted that despite their essential function, moderators often face challenges and are underappreciated. 

“It’s important to acknowledge their enormous worth and the sacrifices they make to maintain neighborhood norms and promote diversity. Decentralized communities would be open to exploitation, false information, and conflict without their commitment and tenacity.”

TRT highlighted the distinct challenges web3 moderators encounter, such as managing decentralized settings with fluid governance structures, handling complex community dynamics, and addressing diverse viewpoints. Additionally, moderators face the ongoing risk of abuse and harassment from hostile users, necessitating the maintenance of order and decency amid verbal attacks and direct threats.

“The Web3 industry is still in its infancy, so moderators may encounter job instability when the project or company doesn’t meet its goals and encounters financial difficulties. This can create uncertainty in their day-to-day lives. However, with the right support, perseverance, and upskilling, they may be able to find other jobs, particularly if they possess skills beyond moderating,” Ferrer added.

Accordingly, Ferrer shared that The Round Table offers a range of services globally for both blockchain and non-blockchain projects. He highlighted that TRT is a legally recognized organization in the Philippines, that exclusively employ Filipinos and provide services such as social media management, community management, moderation, Discord setup and maintenance, and more. 

Further, it was noted that TRT aims to aid Filipinos in integrating into web3 technology and space through upcoming job and training initiatives. These programs will enable participants to gain knowledge about web3, blockchain, cryptocurrency, NFT, and develop skills to become proficient moderators.
