‘Population: One’ Adds Private Rooms For A Limited Time

You and up to 17 of your closest friends can play together in both War and Squad mode.

Population: One developer BigBox VR today launched a Private Room Open Beta for its popular VR battle royale game, allowing players to invite up to 17 of their friends to private servers where they can duke it out in both Squad and War mode or just kick it old school in the pre-game lobby.

Players can meet up with those on their friend’s lists in a variety of ways. Those occupying an open room will have ‘IN PRIVATE ROOM’ displayed next to their names on your friend’s list; all you have to do is select ‘Join.’ To enter a closed room, switch your game mode to ‘Private Room Beta’ and select ‘Join.’ From there it’s just a matter of entering the secret code provided by the room owner.

To create your own private server, select ‘Create’ while in Private Room mode and head to your ‘Room Settings.’ Here you can change your room from open to closed or vice-versa, generate a private room code, invite your friends, organize teams, and switch between game modes. Of course, you could always just ditch the gunfights altogether and, instead, just mess around the pre-game lobby without having to worry about any time limits. After all, you won’t gain any XP while in a private room, so you might as well have some fun.

Population: One’s Private Room Beta runs now until April 5th at 12pm PST. BigBox states that while the beta will only be available for a short period of time, they hope to bring the feature back sometime in the near future.

Population: One is available now on Oculus Quest and SteamVR headsets for $29.99. Today’s update is available to all players 100% free of charge.
