POWERHOME SOLAR, one of the fastest-growing solar companies in America, hosted its second annual virtual company party and gave away more than $290,000 in cash and prizes to employees on Jan. 15. Employees across the U.S. were entered into a random drawing for cash prizes ranging from $2,500 to $25,000.

The idea, born out of necessity in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, has become a staple event for POWERHOME SOLAR’s employees. Gathering together virtually for a party across the 15 states that the company serves in the Midwest, Southeast and Mid-Atlantic is not logistically possible since POWERHOME SOLAR now employs more than 2,100 across that footprint.

“I make it a point every year to have a holiday party that is bigger than the year before, because as our company grows, so should the amount of celebration,” said POWERHOME SOLAR CEO Jayson Waller. “We’ve hired more than 1,500 employees since COVID, and we’re in the business of changing lives for our customers and our employees. It feels good to give back to our team that puts in all the hard work to make it happen.”

The virtual event featured five grand prize winners of $25,000 each, along with multiple winners of amounts including $2,500, $5,000 and $10,000. Employees were encouraged to submit dance videos celebrating the company’s new marketing campaign called “Life Powered By The Sun,” and those submitting clips received $500 for simply participating.

The grand prize winners included four who work at the company’s corporate headquarters offices in Mooresville, NC.

Kyle and Jessica plan to use their money for down payments on a home, while Kathryn and Tiffany said they’d use the funds to pay off college debt.

In addition to the cash and prize giveaways, the party included virtual appearances from authors/motivational speakers David Meltzer and Heather Monahan, actress/podcast host Melissa Carcache, Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders, Detroit Lions executive Chris Spielman, and Denver Broncos punter Sam Martin. The company gave away more than $210,000 to its employees during its 2020 virtual holiday celebration.
