Reddit has finally filed for the IPO

Following years of rumours and long waiting, Reddit on Thursday finally filed for an IPO with New York Stock Exchange. The IPO is expected to be launched in March. This marks the first public issue by a major social media company since Pinterest’s IPO in 2019. Founded in 2007, Reddit over the years has emerged as one of the most popular social media platforms, clocking 73 million daily active users and 267 million weekly active users. However, despite this, the company has failed to build a profitable advertising business model like other tech giants like Meta and Google. But ahead of its IPO, Reddit has made several changes to its content policy and data privacy in order to increase its revenue.

Sony is Testing PC support for its PlayStation VR2 Headset  

If you own a PlayStation’s virtual reality headset then there is good news for you. Sony is currently testing PC support for its PlayStation VR2 headset. Until now, VR2 headset works exclusively only with PS5 headset. Sony is expected to launch the PC support in the second half of 2024. Over all, this move opens up the PS VR2 to a wider audience of PC gamers, giving them access to the headset’s impressive features like 4K OLED displays and haptic feedback controllers. Additionally, it could potentially bring popular PC VR titles like Half-Life: Alyx to PS VR2 users. However, It is still not clear if PS VR2 will offer full compatibility with all PC VR games, or if it will be limited to specific titles or platforms.

Google Pauses Gemini AI’s People Image Generation Feature (here’s why)

Google on Thursday announced that its is temporarily pausing Gemini AI ‘s people image generation feature. This after the latter repeatedly depicted Nazi-era troops as people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. This news immediately became viral on ‘X’ where critics called Gemini as unstable and unreliable model. Google, meanwhile, has got into damage control mode. The tech giant has acknowledged the inaccuracies and claimed that it is working on addressing the identified biases. However, it has not given any timeline when the image generation feature will be relaunched. Google had announced the launch of Gemini AI in last year December in its desperate attempt to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Google rolls out AI writing feature in Chrome

There is an exciting news for all the Chrome browsers. Google has started rolling out AI writing feature into Chrome. This feature is officially called ‘Help me write’ and will help to write quality content, analyze context and suggest improvements to your overall writing. Additionally, it can help in crafting emails and reports to composing social media posts and creative writing. However, this feature has been currently launched in experimental mode and Google has not given any exact date for its official launch. However, when launched, it is likely to prove a pretty helpful feature for all the Chrome browsers.

Stability AI Debuts preview of Stable Diffusion 3.0

Generative AI company Stability AI has just launched the preview of Stable Diffusion 3.0, its next-generation text-to-image generation model.  This new model is expected to generate sharper, more detailed and higher resolution images. It is also expected to perform better on complex prompts and also generate better quality of 3D images and videos. However, since currently Stable Diffusion 3.0 is available only in preview stage, its access will be available only to limited number of users primarily for developers and researchers. Stability AI hasn’t still announced the official launch date.
