The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Ricky Pearsall 2024 NFL Draft Profile.

Ricky Pearsall Background

Position: Wide Receiver

School: Florida

Size: 6-foot-1, 189 pounds

Class: Senior

2023 stats: 65 receptions, 965 receiving yards, 14.8 yards per reception, 4 touchdown catches

Pearsall played at both Arizona State and Florida during his career and was productive at both schools. Now he is in the 2024 NFL Draft.

As a three-star recruit in the class of 2019, Pearsall signed with Arizona State to stay in the state. He played sparingly during his first two seasons with the Sun Devils. In 2021, he broke out with 48 catches for 580 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He helped the Sun Devils win eight games in 2023. After the season, he decided to transfer to Florida. In his first season with the Gators, he hauled in 33 passes for 661 yards and five touchdowns. He aided the Gators in winning six games. For the 2023 season, Pearsall caught 65 passes for 965 yards and four touchdowns. He played well, but the Gators only won five games.

Following the 2023 season, Pearsall declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a second to fourth-round pick.

Ricky Pearsall Strengths

Pearsall is a good route runner. He ran a wide variety of routes during his college career. Pearsall has the ability to get in and out of his breaks quickly to create separation. He can change speeds well to keep defenders off-balance. Pearsall also has the ability to find the soft spot against zone coverage.

His hands are incredible. Pearsall may have a limited catch radius, but he isn’t afraid to go over the middle and make catches despite getting hit. He can catch the easy ones with good focus. On top of that, he showed the ability to make acrobatic catches, so even throws off-frame don’t faze him.

He has good body control and is a solid athlete. Pearsall ran a 4.41 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and while he doesn’t stretch the field vertically all the time, he does have nice speed. He has good agility and acceleration which helps him with his route running and his ability after the catch.

Ricky Pearsall Weaknesses

Pearsall needs to work on filling out his frame more. He is 6-foot-1, but just 189 pounds. Adding play strength can help him in several areas. He will be able to deal with physical coverage more and make contested catches. His run blocking can also improve.

Along with some struggles with physical coverage, Pearsall struggles against press coverage. He needs to do a better job of fighting through it. In addition, he can work on his releases at the line of scrimmage to create separation.

He won’t offer much as a run blocker. Adding strength will help, but he also needs to show better effort and technique. Pearsall can keep his pad level low and keep his hands inside more. A little more desire, strength and technique can help him improve.
