The Russian police have recently made new arrests in connection with the Finiko Crypto Pyramid scheme. The police have arrested two women who are allegedly involved in the funneling of millions of dollars in the crypto scam. The destabilized Finiko scam has attracted investors from various countries, including the United States and Germany.

The women, Lilia Nurieva and Dina Gabdullina, are currently in police custody and are scheduled for thorough questioning. Nurieva is also a founder of a real estate agency who eventually joined Finiko, while Gabdullina is a high-ranking official of the scheme.

Allegedly, these two women are directly involved in luring investors by convincing them to send over $10 million to the scam through multi-level marketing. Both Nurieva and Gabdullina were already charged for their involvement in the Ponzi scam. Authorities have also found that Finiko has been operating from December 1, 2018, until July 28, 2012.

Previous arrest

The Finiko scam was so big that the authorities were compelled to search and arrest the people behind them as soon as possible.

The first ones to be collared were Kirill Doronin, Finiko’s founder and an Instagram influencer, and IIgiz Shakirov, a businessman from Kazan. Shakirov was promoted as Finiko’s vice president after signing up an astounding 100,000 investors in the scheme.

The Russian authorities have issued international arrest warrants for other members of Finiko, Marat, and Zygmunt Zygmuntovich.

Latest progress

The Vakhitovsky court of Kazan decided to keep Nurieva and Gabdullina in detention until Nov. 7, despite Gabdullina’s defense and request for a house arrest because of her medical condition.

Nurieva, for her part, has partially admitted her guilt and offered her assistance to the authorities regarding the Finiko Ponzi scam.

Authorities have estimated that over 1 billion rubles (almost $14 million) have been funneled by Finiko officials into the scam.
