Looking forward to shoving Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 into your PS5 and seeing the game in all its next gen glory?
Well, we’ve got some bad news for you. The Playstation 5 version of this upcoming stealth shooter has been delayed indefinitely. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s been cancelled, and we expect it to arrive some time before the space year 2022, but right now it doesn’t have a new release date.
“Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 will be delayed due to unforeseen technical issues discovered in the weeks leading up to launch,” reads the statement from CI Games. The other versions, the Xbox Series S/X version is still on course (as are the PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions) so it’s just Playstation 5 owners who don’t get to commit next-gen long distance murder.

That’s the bad news. The good news is, thanks to backwards compatibility, Playstation 5 owners can still play, it’s just that they’ll have to stick with the Playstation 4 version for now. Both the Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions qualify for a free next-gen upgrade, so when the Playstation 5 is released, PS5 owners can get it without spending another penny.
As “a gesture of goodwill” for the delay, CI Games have announced that the first piece of DLC for the game will be made free across all platforms. The latter will be another open sandbox sniping level so that’s nothing to turn your nose up at.
PS5 version aside, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is out June 4th on PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
