T1 vs Bilibili Gaming MSI 2024 Bracket Stage Recap

The reigning champs go up against MSI favorites in a stunning best-of-five that rcoked the stage and kept everybody guessing.

The fight for the Upper Bracket Final was on.

Both T1 and Bilibili Gaming had harrowing match-ups in Stage One. In both instances, a lower-ranked region threatened an upset that would have sent them to the lower bracket. But now, their experience from scrims would finally be tested against another powerhouse region.

T1 vs Bilibili Gaming MSI 2024 Recap

Game 1

BLG’s been somewhat successful in the lane shift meta, but they had to weigh the risks against taking away XP from knight’s Talia.

First blood on Faker put BLG in the lead, and they used their resources to hit T1’s botlane with a Weaver’s Wall push, taking more with them. The score had the LPL #1 seed in the running, as their powerspike came early in game one.

That said, T1 is known for specializing in uphill fights. Keria’s dragon pit flank knock-up on Bin and co. was the perfect set-up for Guma and the rest of T1 to put BLG’s lead into question.

That said, the LCK team did overextend at top, resulting in another loss. And after a Baron buff went BLG’s way, they quickly learned from their mistakes and played beautifully for another 2:1 score gap that sealed the deal. Game one goes to Bilibili Gaming.

Game 2

BLG indexed a way slower comp, but their botlane remained as strong as ever.

Topside felt 50/50 in the trades, but Faker was notably being pushed back in his lane. When he saw that the enemy didn’t hava a flash, Faker ulted into bot and got a much-needed kill. Meanwhile, Yike was being pushed out of important objectives, putting the rest of T1 in a bad spot.

T1 Oner made sure his team had perfect vision in the jungle. When the time came for Infernal Drake, Faker smartly separated Bin and knight from their team.

T1 descended on them first, having some trouble with the K’Sante. Afterwards, Zeus dove into dragon pit to stop the objective take. But though BLG still secured the drake, they were immediately wiped in an unfair fight.

The unkillable demon king and his team took Baron right after. And three dragons later, T1 slowly opened all three lanes for their first victory in the series.

Game 3

Faker’s pick let the rest of his team pick and choose which targets to isolate in the fight. But BLG still had the more reliable botlane, so things could have gone eitherway.

A quick team dive onto BLG’s top lane put T1 in a confident spot early on. But a pick on Zeus meant that the LPL had the resources to hard force a mid push with a Rift Herald. Afterwards, knight and co. found the picks to take the lead back.

From there, it was a straight avalanche as T1 scrambled for map control. Even with their macro and Gumayusi’s timing, the Korean roster couldn’t halt BLG’s slow march into their base. Series point for Bilibili Gaming.

Game 4

Besides the usual botlane focus from both teams, BLG went for total CC in the draft while banning all of Faker’s best picks so far, testing his flexibility.

Both teams looked for the objective lead early on. Both teams had summoner’s down, so the lanes looked evenly matched until both teams got their ults. Xun zoned Faker away from his midlaner while knight collected most of the plates in the laning phase.

T1 did the same against BLG’s jungler when they took over Void Grubs 10 minutes in. While the LCK #2 seed found some laning success, two members got downed by Bilibili’s top-jungle hyperscaling duo. Faker punched back with a double-kill on Akali, but was subsequently punished.

Zeus’ defensive build was unfortunately no match for Elk and his team. The Chinese roster’s careful playmaking and decisive dives won them the rest of the midgame. And eventually, the series.
