While Virtus.pro’s spotless run through the second season of Dota Pro Circuit league should come as no surprise, Team Spirit made the jump from nearly making it to the first Major to perfectly matching the region’s strongest team.
In the previous season, Team Spirit finished fourth in their region, after losing a tiebreaker match with AS Monaco Gambit, and had to watch the Singapore Major from home. Since then, they went on crushing third party tournaments and added the Dota 2 Champions League 2021 title to their name, while also finishing runners up at EPIC League Season 3.
When it came down to another shot for securing DPC points for a possible direct invite to The International 10, Team Spirit entered the new season with all guns blazing and after four weeks of league play,they are tied for first place with Virtus.pro, boasting a clean 5-0 series score.
Both VP and Team Spirit locked in the fifth consecutive win this past Sunday, May 9, with two quick series, the former taking down EXTREMUM 2-0 and the latter defeating Team Unique, also with a 2-0.
With just two series left on the DPC season 2 schedule, the two leaders have perfectly mirrored results in the Round-Robin format: 5-0 overall series score and 10-1 game score.

What will most likely set Team Spirit and VP apart, and will decide which one secures a spot straight into the Major playoff and which one will start from the group stage, is their direct confrontation from May 13. The series is scheduled to begin at 18:00 CEST.
Much like in the first season, Eastern Europe has three tickets to offer to the second Major of the year and so far Natus Vincere are seemingly the team that will claim the wild card spot. They are in third place in the standings with an overall 3-2 score.
