When Craig and Jessica Flett bought their Hendra home sight unseen at the start of the Covid pandemic, they never dreamed a home would sell for $5.6 million in the suburb.

But just two streets away from their property at 34 Gordon Street, that’s exactly what has happened — setting a new suburb record in the process.

The median house price in Hendra has risen by nearly 12 per cent in the past 12 months, according to the latest PropTrack data, jumping from $1.5 million to $1.7 million.

This property at 34 Gordon St, Hendra, is for sale with Patrick McKinnon of Place Ascot.

The Fleets had always planned to keep their home and put down roots in the suburb they love so much, but they got itchy feet.

“We’ve always had this idealistic dream of raising our kids on land,” Mr Flett said.

“If we could buy acreage in Hendra, that would be the dream.”

So, the Fletts and their two children, Matilda, 4, and Harrison, 5, are reluctantly selling their picture perfect five-bedroom, three-bathroom home.

The property has been completely rebuilt apart from the character facade, with immaculate finishings and features, including a heated pool and pool house with stone walls and a fireplace.

The property at 34 Gordon St, Hendra, is picture perfect and fully renovated.

“This is our third renovation — we’re gluttons for punishment,” Mr Flett said.

“I like fishing and the outdoors, so there’s space for a boat or caravan. My wife helped design it with our architect. There are built-in desks for the kids and an oversized main bathroom. It’s got storage everywhere.”

Patrick McKinnon of Place Ascot recently sold this property at 14 Goodwood St, Hendra, for a suburb record of $5.6m.

The property is being marketed by Patrick McKinnon of Place Ascot, who also sold 14 Goodwood St, Hendra, for the suburb record of $5.6 million last month.

34 Gordon Street is scheduled for auction on April 27.

“We will be in South Australia for our wedding anniversary, so hopefully we’ll be celebrating two milestones!” Mr Flett said.
