Only 30 days remain until the Aviation Festival in Piešťany with its night-time air show and children’s attractions.

The penultimate weekend in May will be busy in the spa town on the Váh river. For the third time, dozens of participants and visitors will flood the streets of Piešťany for the unique aviation show – the Aviation Festival, which will take place at the Piešťany airport. On May 20th and 21st, aviation enthusiasts will be able to experience what they won’t see anywhere else. The organizers have relied on what left the biggest impression on all flying enthusiasts last year. There will be no shortage of drone, laser, light, pyrotechnic, and unforgettable night air shows. In addition, the organizing team is preparing an extensive area with a new concept of entertainment and educational attractions for families with children.

In just a month, phenomenal pilots Zoltán Veres from Hungary and Marek Choim from Poland will show their piloting skills and breathtaking maneuvers at Piešťany Airport. Hungarian helicopter Mi-2 will also participate, and its agility will be demonstrated during the day and night by pilot Imreh Lajos. Poland will be represented by Maciej Dominiak and his agile helicopter Bo105, as well as the unique paragliding group Flying Dragons, which left unforgettable experiences in the visitors last year. The Czech Republic will be represented by Jan Rudzinskyj with his solo on the Jungmann D-EELE, well-known aerobatic pilot, Red Bull Air Race World Champion Martin Šonka, and the Flying Bulls aerobatic group.

“I am glad that we managed to attract many aces to Piešťany again this year. For example, Martin Šonka and Flying Bulls, or the Flying Dragons group from Poland, whose members received great success among visitors after last year’s night show. We are looking forward to the premiere of the British duo Aerosparx with Grob 109b planes. We believe that they will be one of the highlights of the night air show after dark. What also pleases me is that we have a newly emerging aerobatic group flying on Viper SD4 aircraft in Slovakia, as well as the Očovskí bačov group flying on motorless aircraft. Both groups accepted our invitation and will again show us something unique,” says Hubert Štoksa, director of the Aviation Festival in Piešťany 2023.

Slovakia will also be represented by traditional participants of aviation events, pilot Jozef Pivarči, on the legendary Czechoslovak training jet L-29 Delfín. This year, the Aviation Festival will also feature a presentation by the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, which will return to the Piešťany airport with static and dynamic demonstrations of aviation and technical equipment.
