There’s A Fly in My Fly Soup!

Source Node: 876748

If you live in the DC Metro area, you’re hearing warp speed maracas and stepping on crunchy corpses.

It’s the Brood X cicada invasion, the 17 year swarm of harmless insects that create a generational Biblical re-birth.

If you’re a creative chef like the folks at the UK meal kit company “Bug,” you’re trying to crowdfund £300,000 (which they have done). The company (not endorsing, of course) plans to start selling their Hello-Fresh bug recipe/ingredients in the fall, starting with “soft and crunchy buffalo worm falafels; delicious crunchy crickets with Italian herbs to add to pastas or salads; and sticky teriyaki crickets for stir fries, at a price of about £5 each.

So, apparently, this is the new food trend that is following other poverty-based trends like the head-to-tail idea where you get to eat all of the parts that used to be reserved for the animal feed market.

Even the New York Times has an article today about the new insect gourmands.

Enjoy!
