My good friend Al Essa can talk about all these topics and more. I’ve known Al for about 20 years, from back when he was CIO of MIT’s Sloan School and we were both working on an early open-source LMS that was built on something like what we call microservices today (although I don’t think the term had been invented at the time). More recently, Al has run data science-related R&D programs at McGraw-Hill Education, Macmillan Education, and D2L. He is currently a Simon Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University.
