Teenage girl dies in a light rail tram accident in Sydney’s CBD
In Sydney’s Central Business District, a 16-year-old girl has died after being trapped under a light rail tram.

Emergency services were alerted around midnight and rushed to George Street, Haymarket, where the girl was stuck under a carriage with critical injuries.
Police Rescue and Fire & Rescue NSW officers worked to free her from the tracks, but despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tram driver, a 52-year-old man, was taken to the hospital for mandatory testing.
The police have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Impact on light rail services
Due to the accident, light rail services are currently not operating between Central and Circular Quay on Thursday morning.
