An item that may be of particular interest to my California readers.
Allow us to introduce you to Brandon “Griot” B from SchoolYard Rap. He’s not just a performer; he’s a storyteller, an educator, and a hip-hop maestro all rolled into one! SchoolYard Rap was created from firsthand experiences in education that profoundly shaped Griot B’s understanding of the importance of how history is taught. Working as an assistant principal and teacher in Inglewood, he observed that the curriculum on Black history was narrowly focused, predominantly covering slavery and segregation. This observation sparked his determination to broaden the narrative and thus SchoolYard Rap was born!
