Tyrese Haliburton has torn it up for the Indiana Pacers so far this season, leading the league in assists and averaging 20.4 points per game. To help deal with all of the attention on and off the court, the 24-year-old speaks with a sports psychologist.

most people don’t care about how players feel

Talking to media about these conversations, he said that most people don’t care about how players feel and thinks that he’s often just a prop for those who’re trying to win bets. Sports betting is a regular topic of discussion across his social media comments.

The back-to-back All-Star acknowledged that it can be funny seeing some of the comments and that ultimately he doesn’t “give a f***” when someone tells him that they lost money gambling on him or his team.

Many NBA players have made similar comments about the growing influence of sports betting. Just a couple of weeks ago Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert got hit with a $100,000 fine for making a money gesture toward the referee during a game, implying that he was on the take. He mentioned afterward that he thinks that betting is only becoming more prominent and that it’s hurting the sport.
