Where do you turn to when everything that you’ve built upon could possibly crumble in just 25 minutes inside a cage? A lifetime of work turned to ashes. You keep having the same nightmare over and over again, and you can’t seem to change the ending. If the question was what it meant to Adesanya, then the answer is life, he is willing to die inside the cage.

If you are Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira, these are the best cards possibly dealt, the title fight was almost catered to you, but if it is legacy that you are chasing, a second win would lead you towards that. Can Pereira beat Adesanya again and ride off in the sunset?

Why is Adesanya the favorite?

To those that don’t watch the sport much, Israel Adesanya being the favorite after having lost their last three matchups could be confusing and very hard to wrap your head around.

The answer to this could vary depending on opinions and perspectives, Adesanya is simply the better fighter technically all around. He is also faster than Pereira and has been in MMA for much longer.

Pereira is just bigger than Adesanya and has much more power than we have seen Adesanya struggle with when he gets caught.

UFC 287 predictions: Keys to victory

Pereira

  • Pereira should try to avoid gassing out as he seemed to gas out in the last fight, a better gas tank could be very helpful coming into this fight.
  • He should use his leg kicks, they minimized the movement of Adesanya in the last fight, leading to the finish.
  • Avoid wrestling situations, Adesanya has wrestled way better wrestlers that have been wrestling for longer and he has survived, it would be in Pereira’s best interest to avoid wrestling as it just leads to fatigue and Adesanya just seems to be the better wrestler right now.
  • Pick his punches carefully, Adesanya is an intelligent fighter and it would be best for Pereira to try and fight smarter.

Adesanya

  • It’s quite shocking to say but Adesanya might need wrestling in order to win this tie, Pereira is just too good and hits too hard on the feet.
  • Avoid going for head kicks, Adesanya tried landing quite a lot of those but it just seems like Pereira is just too tall so they only hit his shoulder.
  • Applying a lot more pressure, and dictating the pace of the fight, it seems that Pereira struggles with keeping the gas tank considering how much weight he cuts.

Our pick: Alex Pereira

Way of victory: TKO

Rest of the card

Burns (1.23) vs (4.80) Masvidal

(Odds brought to you by Stake.com)

Both fighters could fight for the world title from a win off this fight. Gilbert Burns has established himself as a solid fan favorite whilst Masvidal is just the guy to fight when you are in need of that big-money fight. A new Champion in Leon Edwards means new chances for these two contenders.

Rob Font (2.43) vs (1.54) Adrian Yanez

(Odds brought to you by BC.Game)

Rob Font is back in action, and this time he has to go up against the carnage of Afrian Yanez, Mr. Violence himself. Rob Font has everything in his arsenal, what seems to be lacking in the chin, can he withstand the power of Yanez? This is bound to be a blockbuster, Font welcomes Yanez to the big leagues.

The lights of Miami shine bright on the biggest superstars once again. Will it be the rebirth of Adesanya, or his eulogy, performed by yours truly, Alex Pereira?
