Varjo has unveiled a new high-end VR headset to the public today under the slogan “Varjo for all”

Cat Noir VR
The new king among the VR-Glasses?

The Finnish hardware manufacturer “Varjo” is already known to some of you. They have previously produced high-end VR headsets for business customers that have various features and components that make normal consumer glasses look poor. Among them are eye-tracking, auto-IPD adjustment, aspherical lenses and foveated rendering. These VR glasses have so far only been manufactured for the industry. Now, however, Varjo has set its sights on the prosumer market. With the Varjo Aero, they want to bring the previously missing high-end VR glasses to the table. Today, we’re going to give you all the information and data we know so far, which you’ll need for a possible purchase decision. Let’s get started.

  • Two mini LED displays with 150 nits brightness
  • 2880 x 2720 resolution per eye
  • Covers 99% sRGB and 95% DCI-P3
  • 90Hz refresh rate
  • 115° Field of view (Horizontal)

Aspherical lenses have made glare almost a thing of the past

Hardly anyone could have expected such high-end glasses for the consumer sector. The Varjo Aero comes with razor-sharp mini-LED displays and all sorts of technical bells and whistles. Out of nowhere, Varjo has now released the king of consumer VR glasses for sale. But these high-end glasses also come with a high-end price. The Varjo Aero will cost a measly 1990 Dollars or 2369 Euros. You can pre-order the glasses today. The delivery time is stated as “from January 2022”. If you want to pre-order the glasses, you can do that via the link below. It comes with one drawback. The Varjo Aero has no build in audio solution and relies on external headphones for audio and mic functions.

Unfortunately, you need a well-filled wallet as well as a high-end computer to run the graphics monster. According to Varjo, a 3070 is mandatory. However, testers already confirm that you should at least have a 3080 to really enjoy the device. AMD card owners will also be left out in the cold. The Varjo Aero is unfortunately only compatible with Nvidia graphics cards. In addition to a powerful PC, you might have to pay other costs. The glasses are tracked via SteamVR’s Lighthouse system. That means you still need two Lighthouse boxes and corresponding controllers. If you order the Varjo Aero, you will only get the VR goggles. Still, it could be a high-end upgrade for all Valve Index owners. It’s definitely a dream goggle for VR enthusiasts, but unless you’re swimming in money like Scrooge McDuck, you should take a look at some reviews and decide if the goggles are right for you.
