Want a Fisker Rōnin? Move Fast, Only 999 Coming – The Detroit Bureau

Henrik Fisker took to the internet stage about a week ago to show off what his nascent EV company would be producing in the next couple of years, and now we’ve learned a little more about the Rōnin, a $385K sports car.

First and foremost, if you want one of the Super GT convertibles, you’d better move fast as Fisker plans to build just 999 of the flagships models that are expected to travel about 600 miles on a single charge while producing more than 1,000 horsepower.

The convertible seats five and functions as a sports sedan once you put up the carbon-fiber roof. Production is expected to begin in “the second half of 2025.”

“The Fisker Rōnin is for people who love to drive, but who are also thrilled by automotive art and design and demand that their high-performance vehicles embrace a sustainable future,” Henrik Fisker said in a statement.

“Our goal was to create a classic grand touring car, updated for the 21^st century and engineered for customers who want to drive from Los Angeles to Napa Valley on a single charge or take on the autobahn at steady high speeds without concern for battery capacity.

Fast and roomy?

The EV maker’s first entry is the Ocean SUV, which is already being delivered in Europe. Choosing a crossover as the first vehicle shows Henrik Fisker is reading the market well. However, the allure of a good handling, electric sports car and all of 1,000 hp and accompanying low-end torque that has the driver blasting off rather than leaving the line is tough to resist.

In fact, the company projects the five-seater will go from stop to 60 mph in just 2 seconds and hit a top speed of 170 mph. Having all of this power within easy reach, has the company focusing on the driver — not eliminating them. 

The car sits on a “unique” aluminum space frame that integrates the battery cells and combines with lightweight materials to help the sports sedan achieve its target of 600 miles of range. Fisker also removed additional weight from the wheels, going with 23-inch carbon fiber wheels.

Getting in and out of the Rōnin is designed to be easier as well with rear butterfly doors created to give easier access to the back seat. Additionally the front doors open by swiping the handle or using a smartphone to pop the door handles, so to speak. A phone can also be used to open and close the roof. Once tucked away, the roof does allow for a bit of luggage in the rear trunk. There is additional storage in the front trunk, or frunk.

When?

Production is set to begin in the second half of 2025, so the first models will probably hit the road in late 2024. If you want one, the company started taking $2,000 reservations for all Fisker offerings Aug. 3. You can reserve a second vehicle for $1,000, which is refundable.
