Wefunder land in the EU

Wefunder, the American equity crowdfunding platform, announced they landed in Europe earlier this week. Katie Powers will be the Head of EU operations.

“Before, each country in Europe had their own securities regulations. This made it unattractive to expand to Europe given the complexity of complying with 30 different sets of laws,” Wefunder’s CEO, Nick Tommarello, wrote in a blog. “Thankfully, the European Union (and the EEA) now has one set of laws to unify these 30 countries into one common framework, with an addressable market roughly equal to the United States. It’s now a race between the US and UK platforms to enter the European Union, as there is still no local EU platform with any significant traction.”

A public benefit corporation, whose mission is to fix capitalism by funding 20,000 more founders by 2029, has announced a dozen startups are already raising at https://wefunder.com/eu.
