Down to the Wire: Yam Finance Saved at the Last Minute

After a tense day, the most talked about new decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol YAM Finance has overcome a near-catastrophic code error. The future of Yam Finance was abruptly thrown into question earlier today when a bug in the protocol’s code resulted in excessive YAM reserves being minted — rendering it “impossible to take any future governance actions.”The project quickly asked for community support, offering rewards to YAM miners and token-holders who were willing to pledge their tokens toward a pool of 160,000 coins to recapture governance over the protocol before the

Surging Interest in ‘Yam’ Yield Farming — But Is It Too risky?

The latest craze in the DeFi sector is a new yield farming protocol called Yam which promises ‘equal opportunity’ staking with no premine, no founder shares, and a zero value token at launch. The experimental Yam Protocol is the talk of Crypto Twitter right now — with many excited about the big potential returns, while others worry about the risks. The recently launched project offers an elastic supply token, similar to Ampleforth, that can expand and contract depending on market conditions, with the aim of seeking eventual price stability and a peg

Building on Taproot: Payment Pools Could Be Bitcoin’s Next Layer Two Protocol

This article is about a technological concept based on the proposed Taproot protocol upgrade. If you’re not yet familiar with the basics of how Taproot works, it’s recommended that you first read this explainer.Taproot, a potential upgrade to the Bitcoin protocol first proposed by Bitcoin Core contributor Gregory Maxwell, is in its late stages of development. The technology consists of a clever combination of crypto-tricks that would let users hide complex smart contracts inside regular-looking transactions — the complexity is only ever revealed if parties to a contract are uncooperative.Leveraging

Global crypto exchanges have reportedly seen a significant increase in web traffic in July as cryptocurrency prices gained momentum.According to data from crypto analytics startup ICO Analytics, web traffic on global crypto exchanges increased by 13% on average in July 2020. Illia Kmez, head of content at ICO Analytics, told Cointelegraph that centralized crypto exchanges added 26% in web traffic since December 2020. Ransomware Attacks Demanding Crypto Are Unfortunately Here to Stay

Year after year, the ransomware landscape changes dramatically. In 2019, a new resurgence of attacks occurred as businesses and government institutions became the main targets of ransomware, given their capacity to yield larger payouts. The most recent attack was against Garmin, a navigation systems company, on July 23. Due to the attack, many of its online services such as customer support, website functions and company communications were affected. Reportedly, the Russian cybergang Evil Corp launched the attack, demanding $10 million in cryptocurrency to restore access to Garmin’s services. Overall, according to a

Curve Finance Guide – How to Make Money with Curve (CRV)

The Curve Protocol is one of the largest and most used projects in the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) space. It is integrated with most DeFi protocols and has seen rapid adoption in a short window. It’s essentially the most competent automated market maker (AMM) out there for stablecoins and wrapped tokens. Curve’s most valuable accomplishment has been giving people incentive to contribute liquidity and earn rewards over their idle assets. A community-based project, the protocol innovates continuously and is now progressing towards total decentralization.  In this guide, we take a look

InstaDapp Guide: Bridge to All DeFi Platforms

One of the drawbacks of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols today is that you need different platforms to perform specific functions instead of having them all in one place. And that’s the problem that Instadapp is trying to solve. Instadapp is a DeFi platform that provides users and developers with a single point of integration to access all the DeFi protocols. As we are in the early days of the decentralized web, Instadapp aims to be a window into multiple DeFi services — tools that make transactions of crypto assets easier.

mStable DeFi Guide: Ultimate Stablecoin Solution

mStable is a newly launched DeFi protocol aimed at streamlining the application of stablecoins in a unified ecosystem it aims to create. There are many projects that seek to increase the adoption of cryptos by linking them to traditional financial systems. Stablecoins, for one, have been created to do just that. Using blockchain and smart contracts, the crypto community has devised a way to make digital asset representation of fiat currencies. But even behind the recent developments surrounding stablecoins, a concern still remains: the assets that back the number of
