Micah Johnson, an artist, and former baseball player, is dropping his last chapter of the Aku NFT series on Feb. 21. The final chapter of the popular 10-part series was initially launched as open editions on Nifty Gateway in partnership with renowned auction house Bonhams. Micah Johnson Created the Aku NFT Series Micah Johnson will release the last chapter of his non-fungible token (NFT) character Aku through Bonhams and Nifty Gateway on Monday. The offering will be open editions, meaning the number of sales will determine how many tokens are minting with a bidding price set at $999 each. As of yet, the 10-part series of Aku NFTs have accounted for more than $19 million in total sales. “I’m incredibly proud of all we have accomplished from a story perspective across the chapters. We told a story without Aku ever saying a word,” Johnson added. A Former Baseball Player The NFT character Aku has also been selected for a full-length feature film with traditional distribution. While Johnson says he cannot disclose any details as of yet but wants it to be the next gen’s Mickey Mouse. Johnson is a former professional baseball player who was active in the league from 2015 to 2017, playing for the Chicago White Sox, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and The Atlanta Braves. After multiple injuries, including a fractured wrist and a torn shoulder, Johnson retired from professional baseball to become a visual artist in 2018. After retiring from sports, he set up an art studio in New Hampshire, creating both physical works on canvas and digital art.
