Bunny Day is Back in Animal Crossing and it Still Sucks

Get lost, Zipper T.

Don’t get us wrong, we knew Bunny Day 2021 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons was going to be awful – but we thought that maybe, just maybe, things would be a bit different at least. A whole year later and Zipper T. Bunny is still as creepy as usual and there are still more eggs hidden around the island than any of us know what to do with.

If you’ve ever dreamed about hitting rocks, chopping down trees and catching fish but instead of receiving rocks or wood or fish in return you just get eggs, then Bunny Day is the holiday for you. A few days ago the Bunny Day events made their return to Animal Crossing: New Horizons so that players could start collecting as many eggs as humanly possible before the actual Bunny Day on April 4th (Easter Sunday).

If you head over to your island, somewhere nearby you’ll find Zipper T. Bunny, the bane of every player’s existence. He bounces around without a care in the world, threatening to choke you out if you even take a quick glance at the big zipper on his back proving, of course, that he is not an animal but a person in a costume.

If you’re looking to get some Bunny Day items – though who in their right mind would – you can do so by trading eggs to Zipper T. as well as crafting them yourself using the recipes that he’s annoyingly hidden around your island.

And for those of us who already have all of last years’ Bunny Day items, there are five new items to collect this holiday:

  • Bunny Day Garden Flag
  • Bunny Day Planter Box
  • Bunny Day Candy
  • Bunny Day Topiary
  • Bunny Day Tree

These items are available during the week leading up to Bunny Day in the Nook Shop. You can purchase all five items to spruce up your island a bit and make that weird-ass bunny feel welcome.

Finally, there aren’t any new recipes to collect this year (thank god) but you can trade eggs with your villagers in the same way you could trade feathers during Festivale.

Sigh. We hoped it wouldn’t come. We prayed that Nintendo would come up with something better. But here we are once again at Bunny Day. If you have any interest in participating, log in now to get your Easter novelty items as well as meet that sociopath Zipper in the game right now. For the rest of us, we might just have to avoid visiting our islands for the next week.
