Crowdfunding Covid Cheaters

Source Node: 834726

Crises bring out the best and worst in people.

So, it’s no surprise that the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in some bad actors on social media.

Opindia reports that a number of influencers have run crowdfunding campaigns to allegedly help those in financial need, only to discover, upon some (not so heavy) digging that the stories were false.

One follower discovered that his Instagram pal who was raising money for oxygen cylinders for the less fortunate was faked.

Another was taking orders, and money, for the anti-viral medicine Remdesivir, but was actually just taking the money.

So, like all things in life, it takes a little work to do the right thing. Try to check out these heart rending appeals if possible or just give to trusted, regulated organizations.
