It’s the type of home many families dream of living in.

With open living areas but also plenty of space to spread out, a pool and cubby house in the backyard, as well as being within one of Adelaide’s most sought-after suburbs known for its boutique shopping scene and popular eateries, this Unley property has a lot going for it.

The 1900s stone villa at 50 Fairford St is on the market for the first time in almost a decade, but this time it’s a much larger and more contemporary offering.

Owner and Ouwens Casserly Real Estate managing director Nathan Casserly says he and his wife Rachel purchased the property in 2014 before extending it then renovating the original part of the home.

They moved in the following year and have chipped away at improvements ever since.

Mr Casserly says there were several factors that attracted them to the house.

“It was the appeal of a traditional 1900s sandstone villa, the northerly aspect, the general location in Unley,” he says.

Its open floorplan, position on a quiet no-through road and “great neighbours” were also major factors, Mr Casserly says.

The four-bedroom property still offers all that, but more.

All four bedrooms, including the master with ensuite and dressing room, and the main bathroom are at the front end of the home.

The back end is dedicated to an open kitchen, living and dining area that seamlessly flows through wide sliding glass doors onto an outdoor entertainment area.

In addition to a walk-in pantry, the main living area has a mud room just off the kitchen that leads to the carport, as well as a second living space that could double as a home office.

“Being able to have the space for a walk-in pantry but also the side mud room area is great,” Mr Casserly says.

“The home office, second living area has also provided great extra value for us.

“We were trying to make it as practical and liveable as possible but also a comfortable home.” There is also a solar heated magnesium pool and a cubby house in the backyard, which is surrounded by manicured gardens.

Unley Oval is a short walk away, as are popular cafes and shops on Unley Rd and Duthy St.

Mr Casserly says it has been the perfect home for his family but it was time to start their next adventure in a new home.

“We’ll be very sad to say goodbye,” he says.

“We always will miss it.”

Expressions of interest close at noon on October 26.
