Inspired by the DJ Rezz, Alie Gonzalez made these glasses which use the SparkFun Skeleboard “Doot Doot” board and have been waterproofed so you can rave without fear!
Rezz is an awesome DJ who’s signature style is wearing these sick, custom made, LED glasses. I’ve been obsessed with her for a few years so I finally caved and made my own version of her signature glasses.
When I was thinking of making these glasses, I knew that they had to be recognizable as Rezz glasses with her classic rotation pattern. But if I’m gonna make these from scratch, I might as well make some customizations.The main modification being the absence of 4 NeoPixel LEDs in the center of each ring. Aside from not wanting to go through the difficulty of soldering 4 SMD LEDs, I also wanted to have some amount of visibility.
The other modification was that I wanted the option to change the patterns, colors, and brightness which is why I choose to use a SparkFun ESP32 Thing Plus Skeleboard. In this version of the project I have not added this functionality but in the future I intend on releasing an updated guide with capacitive touch button controls and maybe even an app!
