Valve will be revealing the first patch of 2023 after the Lima Major

Valve, the publisher of Dota 2, has just announced the release date of the much-anticipated Patch 7.33 in a recent blog post. Putting all speculations to bed about the forthcoming update, it will be live on March 6 which is a day after the Lima Major finale.

In the blog they published, Valve also put out the word that discounts for the Supporters Club will be available for the upcoming patch.

The recent patch, 7.32d — released back in fall of 2022 — brought with it some basic updates such as bug fixes, balance changes and tooltips clarification.

Players and fans across the board have not been impressed with the patch updates in the last few years, which have led to many in the community to state that the game was losing some of its magic. In such a situation, this upcoming patch is expected to be significant in many ways, with several balance changes and miscellaneous updates expected to take place.

Many within the Dota 2 community have been uneasy with certain aspects of the current patch, and have been hoping for some freshness in the game for a long time. While such changes would have been welcome before what’s widely being called the “Lina Major” owing to the Intelligence Hero’s dominance in the game, players such as TI10 winner Alexander “TORONTOTOKYO” Khertek of BetBoom Team has shared that it would be better to come out with the new update after Lima Major.

Although Valve took to disappointing fans by confirming earlier that Patch 7.33 isn’t happening anytime soon, it is also relieving that the teams aren’t having to deal with an unfamiliar meta and numerous strategies and changes at the last minute, and that’s not even mentioning the bugs and exploits that are part and parcel of almost any big patch.

The year’s first Major kicks off on Wednesday, so be sure to browse through our website for more Dota 2 content.
