In a recent phone call, CEO Jamie Lannone stated that EBay aims to be a marketplace for Gen-Z and millennials. This is one of the main reasons that the company is considering adding support for cryptocurrencies, which is a widely-adopted form of payment amongst younger generations.

Although nothing has been confirmed yet by the online commerce giant, there is a possibility that the firm could make an announcement around their support for cryptocurrencies on March 10 – a day dedicated to the company’s investors, Jamie Lannone told TheStreet.

The CEO stated that the company has already added support for Google Pay and Apple Pay, and has a partnership with Afterpay in Australia, which is a platform that appeals to Gen-Z as it allows them to buy goods and pay for them later on the platform.

Jamie Lannone went on to say that they were just completing their transition to manage payments where they are now managing $85 billion of volume on their platform directly- giving them the ability to open up new forms of payment.
