Ex-Manchester United Player Has Been Accused For Crypto Laundering

Ex-Manchester United player Anderson Luis de Abreu Oliveira has been accused of crypto laundering through different countries and is now undergoing investigation by the Rio Grande do Sul State Public Prosecutor’s office on the use of crypto for fraud and money laundering as we are reading more in our latest crypto news.

Anderson Luis is a retired professional football player and is now working as an assistant manager of Adana Demirspor which is a club playing in the Turkish professional top-flight league for association football. The operation was carried out by the Rio Grande do Sul State Public Prosecutors’ office dubbed “Operation Criptoshow” and has been in operation for over a year now and a total number of eight people including Anderson got charged with the same charges after the authorities carried out plenty of raids, seizing his personal computer in one of them.

After the raid of the apartment, Anderson confirmed in a statement that he had been working as a crypto trader for three years now but denied that he participated in illegal or illicit activities as a trader. A statement issued by the ex-Manchester United player’s lawyer, Julio Cezar Coitinho said:

 “We have not been summoned, it is hard to talk right now. There is an investigation underway, Anderson has said he is aware. But Anderson is going to prove that he was a victim, not an accomplice. That is his position.”

The allegations say that a total of $5.5 million was stolen from major industrial companies and deposited in 11 bank accounts in four states in Brazil. The money was used to purchase crypto In multiple countries but in Brazil as well. Anderson while playing for Manchester United won the Champions League and several premier league titles and also won the prestigious golden boy award which is given by sports journalists to young footballers under the age of 21, playing in the European nation’s top tier league and perceived as the most impressive players during the calendar year. The lawyer however says that the player is innocent but if found guilty, he will be going to jail for a long time. As of this moment, the football club hasn’t issued any statement about the investigation.
