Matthew Weaver, the Lead Quantum Engineer at QphoX, will speak at the IQT the Hague conference in an engaging panel discussion on “Networked QCs: What Technologies Do We Need?” scheduled for Day 3, session 10, Panel 1. Weaver’s extensive background in the quantum field, from researching optomechanics during his Ph.D. in Santa Barbara to exploring quantum networks at TU Delft, positions him as a key contributor to this timely conversation.

Currently leading the lab team at QphoX, Weaver is at the forefront of developing microwave-to-optics transducers, a critical technology for scaling up quantum computers. This innovative work aims to bridge the gap between microwave-based quantum computing systems and optical communication networks, potentially unlocking new pathways for quantum information transfer and enabling the creation of distributed quantum computing architectures.

During the panel discussion at the IQT The Hague conference, Weaver is expected to share his unique insights into the technological advancements necessary to facilitate networked quantum computing, using his work at QphoX as an example. Participants will be able to delve into the challenges and opportunities associated with developing and integrating the hardware and software required to connect quantum computers over large distances. This includes exploring the role of microwave-to-optics transducers in overcoming current limitations and the broader implications for quantum computing scalability and interoperability.

IQT The Hague 2024 is the Netherlands’ fifth global conference and exhibition. The Hague is a Quantum Technology Event focusing on Quantum Networking and Quantum Security. Ten vertical topics encompassing more than 40 panel talks from over 100 speakers will provide attendees with a deep understanding of state-of-the-art developments of the future quantum internet and the current impact of quantum-safe technologies on cybersecurity and quantum computers.

The conference brings together corporate management, entrepreneurs, end users, technology providers, infrastructure partners, researchers, and investors working on current developments. IQT The Hague is organized by 3DR Holdings, IQT Research, QuTech, QIA (Quantum Internet Alliance), and Quantum Delta NL, who will bring leading organizations and professionals together in this important event. The April conference is “in-person” to ensure maximum networking and discussion at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre in The Hague.
