NBA teased ETH NFTs for playoffs after the launch on the Discord server following the success of NBA Top Shot and will head to Ethereum even more so let’s read more today in our latest ETH news today.

The NBA teased ETH NFTs Twitter feed and Discord server to promote different NFTs and Web3 projects. As a part of the Discord launch, the NBA will release the ETH NFTs to celebrate the season’s Playoffs. Earlier this week, the NBA launched a new feed called NBAxNFT where the league plans on showcasing the things intersecting basketball and web3 including gaming, NFTs, and the metaverse.

As part of the initaitive, the NBA established the Discord server it already has more than 30,000 members, and this afternoon it announced more plans to release ETH NFTs tied to the season’s playoff which will start tomorrow. While Dapper Labs’s NBA top Shot is one of the main projects to date and help to establish the concept of the digital sports collectibles and will push into the mainstream and seems that the pro basketball league plans to expand in the Web3 initiatives and NFTs like Ethereum NFTs based on the season’s playoffs:

“To tip things off, we’re working on an NFT project to celebrate the NBA Playoffs,” reads the announcement. “We’re not quite ready to announce the specifics just yet—that’ll come soon.”

The post explains that the first 10,000 members, of the server, will be able to add the ETH wallet address to the allow list by 5 pm ET on Saturday, and those that make the cutoff will be guaranteed access to mint an NFt from the proejct and the FNT will be free to mint excluding ETH network gas fees. Given that the new proejct is built on ETH it is unlikely that the Dapper Labs and the NBA Top Shot are involved and the latter is built on Flow and the DApper own blockcahin platform that is built to handle the high-volume NFT projects after facing the limitations of ETH with early NFT projects like CryptoKitties.

According to the NBA Discord Server, this can be the new NBAxNFT initiative is not focused on the single NFT release but a variety of the different projects in the Web3 space:

“This Discord server (like @NBAxNFT on Twitter) is the NBA’s official home for basketball and Web3 fans to engage, interact, and learn more about current and future NBA projects and partnerships. His is not limited to any single NFT project. It’s a space for this community to connect on the things they are passionate about.”
