UPDATED – Upgrades coming to Franchise Mode

Plenty of changes are coming to Franchise Mode in NHL 22, and the upgrades won’t be limited just to next gen consoles either, with the improvements arriving on all platforms.

In contrast, games like NBA 2K22 and Madden 22 have made significant improvements to modes like The City or Gameday Momentum but only on next gen consoles.

X Factor reveals coming soon!

50 players in NHL 22 will be getting X Factors which is a brand new addition to the game! The great part is that your Be A Pro player will be able to earn these X Factors too!

There are 29 different X Factors to choose from that fall under six different categories. These categories range from Skating to Goaltending.

The Skating category contains the following X Factors:

• Wheels: Beat anyone, anytime with the puck. You won’t get any agility, speed, or acceleration penalties when skating with the puck.
• Elite Edges: Make tight, seemingly impossible turns anywhere on the ice without sacrificing maneuverability or speed.
• Ankle Breaker: Deke opponents at top speed without any penalty whatsoever. They’ll be watching you fly down the ice before they know what hit ’em.
• In Reverse: You’ll be as good skating backward (or any other direction) as you are at skating forwards with this ability, and you can switch to back skating on a dime without any penalty to speed or acceleration.

NHL 22 Release Date & Pre Order Early Access

NHL 22 has an official release date of October 15, 2021!

However, you won’t have to wait that long to get in on the action, as you can experience these epic visuals even sooner.

If you pre order the NHL 22 X-Factor Edition, you’ll receive Early Access three full days prior to the title’s regular release date.

That means players can hit the ice as soon as October 12, 2021!

We haven’t yet had a 10-hour EA Play Trial confirmed, but if it is released, we expect that to arrive on October 7, 2021.

Price, Platforms, and Editions

As it has been in previous years, NHL 22 will be a console only title, and as such, there is no expected PC release this year.

NHL 22 will launch on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and upgrades like the new Frostbite Engine are going to be available on all systems.

Players will be able to get either the Standard Edition or X-Factor Edition, the latter of which comes with extra in-game rewards, Early Access, and more.

The NHL 22 Standard Edition is $59.99 on Xbox One and PS4, $69.99 on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, and the NHL 22 X-Factor Edition is $99.99.

Dual Entitlement is included with the X-Factor Edition, so you’ll receive both the current gen and next gen counterparts (either PS4 & PS5 or Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S).

Pre Order Rewards & HUT 22 Bonuses

As has become the norm, the NHL 22 X-Factor Edition and Standard Edition will both include a series of pre order rewards.

They’ll apply to a variety of in-game modes, including HUT 22 and World of Chel.

We haven’t yet heard about a physical X-Factor Edition being released, so it looks like all the bonuses could be digital this year for NHL 22.
