Qantas To Bring Back Non-Stop Flights Between India And Australia

In the recent development of events, after more than a decade Qantas Airways the flag carrier of Australia, has decided to commence non-stop flights to India this coming winter. The airlines will use its Airbus A330 for three days a week flight between Delhi and Sydney starting from December 6th, which will become a daily by the end of the year.

Qantas Releases Schedules and New Norms

Qantas released a statement in which it was told that the flights will operate at least until March 2022 and will continue if there is enough demand. It also said that flights from Delhi to Sydney will be nonstop while flights from Sydney to Delhi will go through Darwin.

The decision to commence this new route came in the lights of Australia deciding to ease covid restrictions coming November 1st, which will include removing quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated citizens. Qantas has been looking to gradually restart its international services as well, with their first commercial flights scheduled to continue its operations between Sydney and Los Angeles and Sydney to London from November 1st, 2021, for Australian citizens and permanent residents and their immediate families, as reported earlier.

This initiation would mark the first time for the airlines operating direct flights from India to Australia since 2009. However, in the last 12 months, the airlines have operated more than 50 repatriation flights to bring Australians home on behalf of the Australian government.

The airlines also informed that they would be providing further information regarding post-arrival testing requirements in the coming days in addition to all the covid norms that have already been regulated post ease of restrictions. On the other hand, Air India has been the only airline to run non-stop flights between India and Australia for the last few years.
