The Ukrainian Government To Accept Donations in Polkadot

  • The Ukrainian Government announced that it will start accepting donations in Polkadot.
  • Along with the first announcement, the Ukrainian government also promised to accept more cryptocurrencies soon.
  • In other news, the founder of TRON blockchain Justin Sun pledged generous donations.

While the Russia-Ukraine crisis continues, Ukraine has announced it will start accepting donations in Polkadot. The announcement came as a tweet on one of the government’s official twitter pages.

Earlier, the page initially announced that the country is accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT crypto donations. Both of the tweets have addresses for donors to use.

While all of this was happening, a report on Monday informed that Ukraine has raised up to $11 million. This comes after Bitcoin and Ethereum donations from the public started pouring in since the beginning of the Russian invasion.

Founders of many cryptocurrencies started to put in donations in favor of Ukraine. One example is the founder of Polkadot Gavin Wood, who tweeted recently, saying that he will be donating $5 million to a DOT address if he was given one.

A more recent example is the founder of TRON blockchain Justin Sun. In a tweet, he pledged to contribute $1 million once he is given a TRX address. Binance also said it will donate $10 million to help Ukraine.

Justin Sun has also tweeted on March 1, mentioning a zoom call with the Ambassador of Russia to the World Trade Organization (WTO) Dmitry Lyakishev, as he commented with:

Just had a courtesy Zoom call with Ambassador of Russia to the WTO, Dmitry Lyakishev. We discussed humanitarian use case of how blockchain like Bitcoin/TRON can be implemented for Russian civilians who lack access to financial payment system. Hope we can collaborate!

In simple terms, the world is still aware of the Ukrainian crisis, and the crypto community is throwing in generous donations to support the Ukrainian people through this massive humanitarian crisis.
