Here is our WoW Season of Discovery Launch Prep Guide. Learn how you can prepare for this new take on World of Warcraft Classic.

The Season of Discovery is upon us and with it, Blizzard is planning to give Classic another spin, inspired by the lessons learned from its initial run and Season of Mastery.

So in celebration of the release and just to make sure you’re ready to go, we’ve compiled an expansive list, a pre-flight checklist if you will to make sure you have all your bases covered for this new take on Classic World of Warcraft.

WoW Season of Discovery Launch Times

World of Warcraft Season of Discovery will launch on November 30th, 2023 for everyone who is currently subscribed to World of Warcraft. Owning either Dragonflight or The War Within is not required to play.

Servers will go live globally on the 30th at 3:00 PM EST | 11:00 PM GMT and 12:00 PM CET. The client for Season of Discovery will also go live around the same time and will most likely require a 5-8 GB download or an update to the client of World of Warcraft Classic.

Prepare your Addons

If you’re planning to use any kind of Addon, make sure to curate your lists in advance, optionally already set their individual setting in the Classic Client to ensure a smooth experience. We expect that most of the Addons that worked for Classic should work for this version as well.

You can check out our list of the best add-ons for WoW Classic Season of Discovery here.

But make sure to see if there are any updates rolling out soon after the release of Season of Discovery just in case. The developer of Questie has also announced that they won’t be adding any information regarding the new Rune Quests until further notice to keep the experience as it was intended by the developers.

We also can’t confirm if there are any changes to the quests of World of Warcraft Classic. Sure most of the old quests will still exist but there is a high probability that some of them may have undergone some if not many changes. There is also the possibility of new quests being added to zones in the hope of spreading player groups more evenly.

Relearn and Study Your Classes

Season of Discovery also brings changes to the Classes and their balance. Sure Warriors will most likely still rely on gear and Mages will still be menaces when it comes to leveling. The new Rune system changes things, letting Classes perform roles and actions previously unthinkable.

The talent trees will also see massive revisions to both balance and layout while still keeping that Classic feel. So if you plan to plan out how to set your skill points, remember that some of the older guides from the Classic Era may no longer apply.

A Dangerous Road Ahead

Do also keep in mind that the new level cap will be set at level 25 and will slowly increase over the coming months. This might throw a wrench into your leveling plans, especially if you were trying to boost your character once someone hits the level cap.

Dungeons will also see some smaller, maybe some bigger revisions and that is not just the level 25 10-man Blackfathom Deeps raid which was announced at Blizzcon. Ragefire Chasm, Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep, and The Stockades may all undergo changes and we’ll keep you posted once more information becomes available.
