  • Plein Sport and Portion launches first metaverse-native fashion line.
  • The unveiling includes a tour of Plein’s immersive art world in the Metaverse and NFTs.
  • This first collection drop features a combination of physical and digital items.

Philip Plein has always set his eye on the metaverse ever since announcing that his brand accepts over 24 different types of cryptos as means of payment in 2021. To make good of his promise of a futuristic sports brand, he dabbled into creating the first-ever metaverse fashion line.

This course was birthed with Portion, a blockchain-based auction house for high-end physical and digital arts. Before this, the Plein Group purchased a $1.4M plot of land in the Decentraland metaverse which equates to 176,528 square feet in the real world named Plein Plaza.

By all means, Phillip Plein is utilizing the new virtual world to his advantage in an effort to remodel the Plein Sport line alongside Portion and 3D virtual artist Antoni Tudisco. So, it is no surprise that Phillip Plein launched the Museum of NFT Arts (MONA) where young NFT artists can freely exhibit their creative ingenuity.

The Plein Sport’s first metaverse show which took place on February 24, was indeed a refreshing showcase of innovation interwoven into physical and digital fashion, many attests. Introducing the newest metaverse-native Plein Sport sneakers collection was a humanoid robot dubbed Romeo 0.1 that captivated the audience.

Besides this, other digital wearables were on display with rewards for early collectors. Early collectors were able to purchase unique NFTs linked with physical sneakers at the unveiling, which was a combination of a buy-as-you-see event and a sneaker reveal.

One perk of it all is that the sneakers can be kept as a work of art or traded into a digital wearable to outfit Decentraland’s avatars. Plein reports that the auction powered by Portion, which is also cooperating with Plein on art auctions, sold 11 sneakers in under an hour.

Additionally, Plein announced it will be hosting another auction, but this time, it will be selling its NFT arts on March 3. The Lil Monsters Plein displayed at his main line’s men’s show last month will also be auctioned off the same day.
