Find out how to unlock mounts in Palworld easily and ride or fly through the map with style

Palworld is an exciting new survival game with elements of Pokemon’s monster-collecting formula blended into the mix. For old-school Pokemon lovers, this game brings a hint of nostalgia. But underneath the cartoony graphics and somewhat quirky Pals (this game’s version of capturable creatures), the game is pretty well-made.

For one thing, the map is pretty huge, with plenty to do even though the game is still in Early Access. And to check out the whole of the Palworld simply by running from Point A to Point B is going to take a lot longer than you’d like. So what’s the solution? How do you explore the map faster?

Easy! You need to unlock the mounts in the game.

Although unlocking the mounts in Palworld is pretty easy, it’s going to take you a while to get there. Don’t worry; we’ve got your back!

Here’s our in-depth guide on how to unlock mounts to make traveling through the map faster and easier!

How To Unlock Mounts in Palworld

In single-player games such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or Hogwarts Legacy, you need to progress through the main story to a certain point before you can unlock the mount. However, in Palworld, riding your Pals isn’t blocked behind any story progression.

Instead, you can start riding a mount as soon as you have a mountable Pal in your roster and the appropriate saddle for it. You also need a Pal Gear Workbench to craft the saddle for your Pal mount.

So the question is – where do you get your first mountable Pal?

Well, there are two potential Pals that you can capture pretty early-ish into the game: Rushoar and Eikthyrdeer.

Both of them are mountable, but they have their own strengths and weaknesses. For a beginner, we recommend going with Eikthyrdeer, even though it takes a bit more effort to get.

But since we’re here, we’ll discuss how you can unlock mount options for both of these Pals! Before you head out though, make sure you’re packed with enough PalSpheres

Rushoar is a pretty low-level Pal that you can find and capture early in the game. If you’re having trouble finding one, travel to the location in the map below. You should get a couple of Level 6 Rushoar roaming around in the area.

Once you capture one, access the Technology tab and you should find Rushoar Saddle available for research. To complete the research you need:

Since the resource requirement is low and you can capture the Pal and complete the research when you reach Level 6, this is a great mount to unlock early on.

Once you meet all the requirements, summon your captured Rushoar, head towards him, and press the F button if you’re playing on PC. For Xbox players, press X.

Eikthyrdeer is undoubtedly one of the best Pals for beginners who are in the early hours of the game. Not only do they look extremely majestic and stylish, they are also pretty handy at chopping down trees in no time.

However, to mount an Eikthyrdeer, you need to capture it first. Now, that’s not a huge problem on its own. But the research to craft the Ekthyrdeer Saddle requires you to reach Level 12 first. The resource cost is also a lot higher for this saddle. Here are the things you need:

  • 5 Leather
  • 20 Fiber
  • 10 Ingots
  • 3 Horns
  • 15 Paldium Fragments

But once you have all the resources and finished the research, you’ll be able to mount your Eikthyrdeer and run through the world with grace and elegance.

If you thought riding on your land mounts in Palworld was fun, wait for it – you can unlock flying mounts in the game!

Yep, you heard that right; if you manage to capture a flying Pal that can be mounted, you can ride it and soar through the sky in this massive game!

The idea is the same as before: you need to capture a Pal that fits the bill and complete the relevant Technology research for the Saddle and Craft it in your Workbench. For a flying mount in Palworld, we recommend going with Nitewing. Even though the requirements to mount it are high, it’s worth the investment.

You can find Nitewing soaring through the sky in different locations. Since it’s a flying Pal, make sure you have a Bow equipped to take it down. You can also occasionally find one landed in different places, but it’s pretty rare. Also, make sure you have a decent squad of your own Pals to distract Nitewing and help you capture it.

Once you manage to capture a Nitewing, head to the Technology tab and scroll down to find the Nitewing Saddle research. You need to be level 16 to unlock it. Here’s what you need to craft the saddle:

  • 20 Leather
  • 10 Cloth
  • 15 Ingot
  • 20 Fiber
  • 20 Paldium Fragments

As you can see, the cost to craft the saddle is much higher than what you had to spend for Eikthyrdeer. Similar to the land mounts, crafting saddles for the flying mounts is done at the Pal Gear Workbench.

After you have the satchel, you can ride your Nitewing. You can ascend or descend by pressing the corresponding buttons and also use all of his attack abilities when mounted.

Unlocking Unlimited Exploration

Palworld is a massive game with a beautiful map and an intricate crafting and capturing system. And while it’s easy to forget that it’s a survival game at times, crafting and upgrading your repertoire is a consistent part of its game design.

When you unlock the first mount in the game, your exploration potential increases tenfold. You no longer have to sprint from one point to another. Instead, you can simply bring out your trusty Pal to take you wherever you want.

Hopefully, our guide to unlocking mounts in Palworld could help you find the perfect Pal mount. Good luck!
