The new owners of Jet Airways have confirmed the airline’s comeback time frame in the Indian skies. The Jalan Kalrock Consortium said that Jet Airways would operate its first flight after comeback between Mumbai and New Delhi. The exact date for the flight isn’t known yet, but it will happen in the first quarter of 2022. This is exciting news for Jet Airways fans who want to travel in luxury with style again.
Jet Airways Planning to Start International Operations Soon
Jet Airways will also be looking to get back its lost share in the international travel routes. Murari Lal Jalan, the lead member of the Jalan Kalrock Consortium and the non-executive chairman of Jet Airways, said, “We received NCLT approval in June 2021, and since then, we have been working closely with all concerned authorities to get the airline back in the skies. Jet Airways 2.0 aims at restarting domestic operations by Q1-2022 and short-haul international operations by Q3/Q4 2022. Our plan is to have 50+ aircraft in 3 years and 100+ in 5 years.”
If things go well for the airline, getting 100+ aircraft in its fleet by the next 5 years shouldn’t be a problem. Jet Airways might just be able to take advantage of the rising demand for air travel from 2022.
The markets are slowly opening up, and the best time to enter it would be next year, when it is expected that the demand for air travel will start picking up aggressively.
Jalan said that Jet Airways already has a very loyal following and customer base. The Jalan Kalrock Consortium can leverage the existing brand of Jet Airways to push and grow its services from next year. With Air India getting privatised and a new affordable airline, Akasa, entering in the market, the competition is expected to grow ruthlessly in the coming years, and this will be very beneficial for the end consumers.
