The doors to the Proving Grounds have opened and the first players have stepped up to battle, compete, and prove themselves as NYSL Power Players champions.
In case you missed it, we recently announced a year-long run of free Call of Duty tournaments and ladders with the New York Subliners and Beyond!
NYSL Power Players launched last week with Season 1 of our 4v4 Proving Grounds ladder series, and the first teams have already thrown down to claim their stake of the cash and prizes up for grabs.
Today, let’s take a look at how the first week of ladder play shook out.
FACE THE DEMONS
We were anxious and excited to see what new teams and faces would enter the first Proving Grounds ladder. We’ve met a lot of talented Call of Duty players throughout previous ASTRO x Beyond tournaments, so it wasn’t a surprise to see the Demons return to PlayBeyond.com.
Demons Roster:
Venom and Joker participated in our 2v2 launch ladder for Black Ops Cold War. They were one of the most threatening teams throughout, placing 1st on the final 2v2 ladder standings.
This time, they are joined by Zylem and Nifty to round out their 4v4 squad. In the first week of ladder play, the Demons put up a solid 30-8 match record, and were the first team to reach the “Gold rank” on the ladder standings with a current total of 1447 points.
In addition to securing the #1 position on the ladder standings, the Demons also walked away with CDL A40 TR Headsets from the Weekly ASTRO Leaderboard! Currently the Demons are the team to challenge as we head into the next week of Proving Grounds, and they are not an easy foe to defeat.
TEAMS TO WATCH
In the early days of the Ladder, the Demons remained undefeated, but as the week progressed, a few scary new teams entered the fray and handed the Demons their first losses.
Two of these teams are currently undefeated as we head into the next week of play, so we’ll be watching their upcoming matches to see if they’ll be able to climb the standings and officially surpass the Demon grinders.

We’re only one week into the first season of Proving Grounds. You and your squad still have almost two months to play matches, climb the ladder, and secure a Top 8 finish. Here’s a look at our current standings:

4th – Dingers Dominion (675)
5th – UG Esports (657)

7th – The Boys (550)
8th – Bad Manners (400)
Remember, the Top 8 Ladder teams at the end of the season win cash, ASTRO prizes, and qualify for the Season 1 Playoffs on April 30th. Every month has new prizes up for grabs, so the only thing left for you to do is find a squad and start playing.
