This sparkling mansion, known as the ‘Palais de Cristal’ would not look out of place in a palace in Dubai or Saudi Arabia.

Designed by a furniture industry royalty, Michael Amini, known as the ‘King of Bling’ — the home has recently hit the market, complete with an eye-popping $90.3 million (US$$69.8m) price tag.

It’s currently the most expensive home listed for sale in the Orange County area.

It is clear that no expense was spared in Amini’s build, adorning his castle with jaw-dropping amounts of marble, onyx, crystal, and gold, among other rare materials.

The exterior of the mansion looks like a European chateau with large columns, decorative balconies and tall arches.

As you step through the majestic front doors into an enormous marble foyer, you are greeted by two dramatic staircases lined with railings detailed in 24-carat gold.

Underfoot is a mosaic of Jordanian marble. Overhead is a colourful glass dome, with Swarovski crystals suspended from the central eye motif.

Amini went all out to create the property exactly as he wanted it, with entire walls faced with onyx and glistening crystal chandeliers, and salon room is dominated by a light fixture crafted entirely from crystal prisms.

The sprawling property includes numerous incredible amenities; including a garage with its own smoke machine and sound system so that it can be used as a nightclub.

A car turntable also doubles as the nightclub’s rotating dance floor.

The seven-bedroom, 13-bathroom mansion spans a whopping 1,440 sq m — but the exterior is just as dramatic.

The home includes an additional 340 sqm of decks and open galleries that look out to the Pacific Ocean and Newport Harbor, with views all the way to Los Angeles.

The stunning pool is decorated with a mosaic that was crafted by artisans brought in from the United Kingdom.

Close by is a huge subterranean entertainment pavilion, which features a state-of-the-art theatre, whose ceiling is adorned by with twinkling lights.

An extravagant entertaining bar rivals those you would see at most hotel lobbies, while the home also has an expansive gym and a Zen massage room.

The master bedroom has custom ceilings and golden chandeliers, an eye-catching marble fireplace with mounted TV, and a balcony with amazing views.

Downstairs in the climate-controlled garage, which measures nearly 350sq m and can accommodate at least 10 cars, and can be converted to a dance club or event venue with the flick of a few switches.

Michael Amini, founder and chief executive AICO, a home-furnishings company is dubbed the ‘King of Bling’ due partly to his love of covering furniture in Swarovski crystals.

He hasn’t revealed what he spent to develop the property, but Realtor.com reports that public records show that he bought the 2,230 sq m property in 2007 for US$5.1 million.

As he told the Wall Street Journal, he poured his heart and soul into the Palais du Crystal, but now that the children are grown, he and his wife no longer require such a spacious palace.
